Why Motivation Is a Terrible Strategy

Motivation shows up on good weeks and vanishes on the weeks you need it most. Here's what to build instead — and why our most consistent clients are rarely the most motivated.

Motivation is weather. Some weeks it pours, some weeks you get a drought — and building your health on it is like planning a harvest around hoping it rains.

Build the floor, not the ceiling

Our most successful clients aren’t the most excited ones. They’re the ones with the lowest ‘bad week’ floor: the session still happens, just shorter. The protein still happens, just simpler. A 40% week beats a 0% week every single time, and stacking not-zero weeks is the entire game.

What to do on the worst week

Have a named minimum. Ours is one twenty-minute session and one honest check-in message. That’s the whole ask. Anyone can clear a bar that low — which is exactly why it works when everything else is on fire.

Reading is not training
